Corporate Development (UE) is responsible for research planning and scientific resource management as well as the associated scientific controlling. UE also coordinates all issues related to the Helmholtz Association on behalf of Forschungszentrum Jülich. Furthermore, Corporate Development supports the Board of Directors and the institutes in innovation and knowledge management as well as strategy development and handles strategic partnerships with universities and non-university cooperation partners, in particular as part of the Jülich Aachen Research Alliance (JARA) and the international relations of Forschungszentrum Jülich. Other central tasks are the continuous further development of Forschungszentrum Jülich’s strategy for young talent and supervising EU affairs concerning Forschungszentrum Jülich.
UE represents an important interface between the BMBF, the African partner, and the joint institutes within Forschungszentrum Jülich. The entire H2Atlas project is managed and coordinated from the corporate development unit (UE) where the project office is situated. The project office ensures the general project coordination and management (Germany and Africa) and serves as a first contact point for the BMBF and all other stakeholders. The project office ensures that all project partners (Germany and Africa) adhere to project plans, tasks and timelines. All project-related events (workshops, site visits, etc.) are organize in collaboration with all project partners.
